A message from our founder

I founded Costelloe Group to go deeper into the questions that shape how people live and work, and to answer them with evidence rather than opinion. Our researchers come from different disciplines, but we hold every project to the same standard.

My own discipline sits where language, behavior, and technology meet. I’m a forensic linguist by training, and I spent nearly 14 years at LinkedIn working with teams focused on understanding what members need. As LinkedIn’s AI work grew, so did my role, from understanding how people express intent to helping build the systems and governance behind AI at scale. It gave me a rare view of AI: how it is built, and how the people using it expect to be understood.

The question driving my work now is where human judgment should end and AI judgment should begin. Drawing on my PhD research in counterterrorism, my training in forensic linguistics, and my experience in AI, I’m particularly interested in that boundary when interpretation and risk carry real consequences. We’re exploring it through applied research and technology currently in development and testing.

Other researchers bring questions from their own disciplines. What unites our work is a simple standard: start with the question, test what we think we know, and let the evidence determine the answer.

About Costelloe Group

Costelloe Group is an independent interdisciplinary lab that tests questions through evidence based research. We assemble qualified researchers and subject-matter experts around each project, then use appropriate methods to find out what the evidence supports. The subject matter can vary. The standard of evidence does not.
